CUETS Signs Deal for New Transaction Processing
System
Regina -- On Friday, August 30, Regina-based CU Electronic
Transaction Services (CUETS) signed a major contract
with PaySys International, Inc. to replace CUETS' existing
transaction processing system with state-of-the-art
transaction processing software.
CUETS, owned by Credit Union Centrals of Alberta and Saskatchewan,
is the steadily growing supplier of MasterCard and other
electronic payment services to 1000 credit unions and
branches across Canada. CUETS will work with PaySys, an
established leader in delivering innovative technology
solutions for the credit management arena, towards an
implementation date of September, 1997.
According to Bill Johnson, CUETS Research and Development
Coordinator, the new system will provide credit unions
a high degree of flexibility in virtually every area of
card management -- from data processing to administration,
marketing and operations. "The new system will allow credit
unions to maintain their competitive position in the card
services marketplace well into the future. Speed, efficiency
and flexibility are the primary benefits for credit unions
and, ultimately, their members."
"The implementation of a new leading-edge system is a
major project for CUETS and credit unions, and demonstrates
CUETS' commitment to providing credit unions with innovative
technology," reports Johnson. "The decision to approve
the major investment and select PaySys for the new system
architecture follows months of research and consultation
with credit unions, he adds.
