CUETS Among Best Places to Work
in Canada
CUETS is one of the best places to work in Canada,
according to the recently released 2003 version of Canada's
Top 100 Employers by MediaCorp Canada.
The annual bestseller book recognizes progressive industry
leaders that have made innovative, well-received changes
in the workplace. From an initial list of 46,000 companies,
6,000 finalists were evaluated on the basis of the following
criteria:
- sustained growth
- stimulating work environment
- employee feedback mechanisms
- communication efforts to employees
- employment benefits and vacation allowances
- employer dedication to attracting and retaining
outstanding employees.
The co-operative sector also figures prominent in this
year's listing. Saskatoon-based Co-operative Trust Company
of Canada, Regina-based Co-operators Life Insurance
Company and Vancouver-based Envision Financial were
named among the top 100. Credit Union Central of Saskatchewan
made the shortlist of 200.
Stan Kuss, Chief Executive Officer of CUETS says these
standings demonstrate the depth and quality of the co-operative
sector as an employer. The sector has a long history
of developing positive and supportive workplaces and,
he says, CUETS designation as one of Canada's Top 100
Employers is in keeping with a co-operative spirit that
appreciates the individual and the importance of teamwork.
"One significant, consistent feature I've noticed
in my many years working with credit unions and related
organizations is the outstanding level of employee commitment
that exists throughout the sector. There are many, many
Canadian co-operatives leading the way in creating positive
working environments and implementing various workplace
innovations, and we are very pleased to be included
among them."
