Grey Cup Sponsorship Scores Big
November 17, 2003
The weather gods were smiling on football fans and
Grey Cup 2003 event organizers Saturday, with sunny
skies and temperatures hovering around the freezing
mark all day. The great weather added to the epidemic
of spirit that hit Regina earlier in the week, and helped
attract many thousands of fans to festival events throughout
the weekend.
The highlight for many younger fans was the Family
Fun Day event sponsored by CUETS and its employees.
In an indoor carnival-type environment, 1300 fans young
and old flocked to numerous inflatable activity stations,
including a giant slide, boxing ring, soccer kick, hockey
shootout, basketball throw, laser maze and jousting
corner. The bungee run generated the most smiles and
laughs throughout the day, with many of the most enthusiastic
participants proving the theory that whatever you do
in life comes right back at you, only faster!
For older participants, a chance to get their picture
taken free with the Grey Cup was the main draw. "We
took about 300 group photos with the Cup in less than
two hours, and made sure everyone left with a photo,
posters and other give-aways," reported CUETS event
organizer Leila Dueck. "The visitors were very
complimentary throughout the day and many of them thanked
CUETS' 20-or-so volunteers for hosting a great follow-up
activity to the highly successful parade that took place
earlier in the day.
The parade itself also bore CUETS' stamp of community
spirit, as numerous employees participated in the Credit
Unions of Saskatchewan float and marching contingent.
As the major sponsors of the parade, the credit union
float was proudly at the front of the line and setting
the pace for a great day all around.
