For Immediate Release – January 16, 2007
With a donation of $50,000, CUETS enhanced its support of the Regina & District Food Bank today. As part of the Food Bank’s Community Services Village capital campaign, CUETS’ sponsorship will be used for capital investment in the computer lab in the Adult Centre for Employment Readiness and Training (ACERT) at the Community Services Village.
“CUETS strongly supports the Food Bank’s goal to break the cycle of poverty and dependence by providing skills training and the resources to deliver that training,” said Stan Kuss, CUETS CEO. “Because the success of CUETS’ business depends on technology, and people with the skills to use that technology, investing in the ACERT Centre’s computer lab is a great fit for our sponsorship.”
While the donation marks CUETS’ most significant contribution to the Food Bank, the company has been supportive of the organization over the last few years. In addition to financial sponsorships, CUETS hosted one of the 12 Days of Christmas in 2005 and 2006.
Wil Olive, Chair of the Capital Campaign Committee, expressed his appreciation of CUETS’ support. “CUETS is an important company in our community and its announcement today lends credibility to our project. We greatly appreciate their leadership and their support of this important campaign and hope that this announcement will stimulate others to get involved in helping us finish building the Community Services Village.”
Wayne Hellquist, CEO of the Community Services Village and the Regina & District Food Bank explained the importance of the contribution from CUETS. “The support of CUETS demonstrates its confidence in the Village and the work that we are doing to provide relevant training for the many students who will use this renewed computer lab to further their own personal and employment skills.”
The Community Services Village is a unique facility. It houses a renewed Regina & District Food Bank along with other organizations that share a common vision. Together these groups are creating an integrated sustainable centre for meeting social needs, building independent lives and strengthening families. It is a solution-oriented model for improving people’s lives and building greater hope in our community.
